119 Gallery in Lowell, Massachusetts promotes contemporary and new media art, innovative ideas, and cutting-edge techniques with a rich and diverse program of exhibitions, performances, and community-based arts services. They welcome people of all ages, backgrounds and means to explore and experience new, innovative art.
Each month, 119 Gallery hosts a variety of events including new music, performance, poetry nights and much more.
Ayer Lofts Art Gallery
Ayer Lofts is home to 49 loft-style artist units that were built in two former industrial buildings in Lowell, MA. Completed in 2000, Ayer Lofts is now home to many artists who live and work at Ayer.
Ayer Lofts artists participate in Lowell Open Studios each year, allowing visitors to meet the artists and view their works. Additionally, Ayer Lofts Art Gallery plays host to a number of art community events held in Lowell throughout the year.
Brush Art Gallery
The Brush Art Gallery is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1982 by the Lowell Historic Preservation Commission. Visit Brush Gallery and explore a variety of artists who are working out of a restored mill building. The mission of Brush is to nurture working artists, to keep the visual arts alive in Lowell's historic district, and to show the diversity that exists today in Lowell through exhibitions and cultural programming.
Image Theater
The Image Theater in Lowell, Massachusetts is a non profit theatre that produces and performs a wide variety of original plays and musicals, written by residents of the Greater Lowell community and from throughout New England. Formed in 2005, the primary goal of the Image Theater is to bring opportunities to local emerging talent, including writers, actors, directors, and composers.
Loading Dock Gallery
The Loading Dock Gallery in Lowell, Massachusetts is always at the center of the arts world in Lowell. Loading Dock Gallery makes its home at Western Avenue Studios, which is home to over 150 artists working in a variety of media. The Gallery hosts a number of exhibits and receptions throughout the year for artists who work at Western Ave. Studios. The Gallery also features a wide variety of artwork at all times. The Gallery is opened to the public year-round, Wednesday through Sunday.

Lowell, Massachusetts is home to hundreds of artists who work in a wide variety of media, including glass, paint, ceramics, pottery, metals, and much more. With the ample loft and gallery space no longer used by former manufacturing companies and mills, many artists now call Lowell home. Converted buildings such as Western Avenue Studios, Brush Art Gallery, and Ayer Lofts weren't originally designed as art studios, but they now serve that purpose to hundreds of artists.
Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra
Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra accomplishes its mission of enriching the culture of the Greater Lowell community by giving free classical music concerts, where local musicians have the opportunity to perform in a large orchestra. The Orchestra performs several special concerts a year in various locations throughout the Merrimack Valley, and they are known in the community for their Free Friday Concert Series. The annual Winter and Springs concerts are always crowd pleasers.
Merrimack Repertory Theatre
Merrimack Repertory Theatre pesents a variety of contemporary classics and new plays every month from September through May
at Liberty Hall in Downtown Lowell. The Theatre offers student matinees, a summer theatre program for students, and some of the best shows in the region. If you are looking for a top quality performance, you will find it at MRT.
Western Avenue Studios Artists
Western Avenue Studio is home to hundreds of artists who work in a variety of media - including paint, ceramics, glass, metal and others. On the first Saturday of every month, Western Avenue Studios opens its doors to the public, allowing people to browse the private artists' studios. If you are looking to enhance your art collection from some experience as well as up and coming artists, you need to visit Western Avenue Studios, the epicenter of Lowell's artistic community.
Whistler House Museum of Art
Whistler House Museum of Art, birthplace of well-known artist James McNeill Whistler, was established in 1908 as the home of the Lowell Art Association. In addition to the beautiful art that is displayed within the Museum, the Lowell Art Association owns and operates the Museum as an historic site.
Artwork from the Museum’s Permanent Collection is on display in the galleries of the Whistler House. Among the artists who are represented in the Museum are Frank Weston Benson, William Morris Hunt, William M. Paxton, William Preston Phelps, Aldro Hibbard, Arshile Gorky and Arthur P. Spear. The Museum also exhibits a large collection of James McNeill Whistler etchings.
