Award-winning author Andre Dubus III, a professor in UMass Lowell’s English Department, will lead “Memory Work: Writing, Remembering and Making Sense of Biography and Memoir,” a free roundtable discussion that is open to the public. Dubus – who has earned praise for both his fiction and non-fiction works – is the writer of “Townie: A Memoir,” which chronicles his upbringing in Haverhill, his young adult life and tumultuous relationship with his father, author Andre Dubus II. Joining him will be UMass Lowell faculty panelists History Prof. Shehong Chen, Philosophy Prof. John Kaag, Political Science Prof. John Wooding, Education Prof. James Nehring and Paul Marion, UMass Lowell’s executive director of community relations, a published poet who has also written about Lowell history.
