Lowell Folk Festival

Enjoy great music, food, and fun at Lowell Folk Festival.

The daytime lineup on Saturday of the 24th annual 2010 Lowell Folk Festival is kicking off with a bang beginning at noon.  Get there early before the crowds appear and catch some rising stars in the music world in intimate venues: At Boarding House Park, bluegrass favorites Steep Canyon Rangers. At Market Street Stage, the Quebecois super group De Temps Antan, and over at the St. Anne’s Churchyard Stage, the exciting young Irish band Bua will make this year’s festival start and lineup one to remember.

Later, join the evening “club scene” which starts at the Dutton Street Dance Stage on Saturday night at 7:10 pm with Beat Ya Feet Kings featuring Black Alley with DC urban dance and Clinton Fearon and the Boogie Brown Band’s Jamaican reggae.  Boarding House Park sizzles with Joshua Nelson, Hot Club of Cowtown and the incomparable Swamp Dogg bringing Kosher gospel, hot jazz, and R&B to this stage.

Throughout the weekend there will be eight (count ‘em 8) moderated workshop demonstrations sprinkled throughout the performance schedule. These sessions will be exploring global interpretations of specific instruments (fiddle, guitar and accordion) and thematic talks with demonstrations exploring art forms like dance, singing styles and wind instruments with the Festival performers.

The Lowell Folk Festival takes place in historic downtown Lowell, Massachusetts July 23 through 25, 2010. For information about these musicians and the whole array of Festival offerings, please visit the Festival website at www.lowellfolkfestival.org or call 978-970-5200.
