It’s not too late to register children for Summer Camps at Middlesex Community College. MCC Summer Camps are designed to provide kids, ages 8 to 15, with fun and challenging opportunities to learn about and explore career options, while developing new skills, and boosting self-confidence. MCC’s Summer Camps  run July 8 through Aug. 23 on the Bedford and Lowell campuses.

Most camps are offered Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some exceptions – including half-day camps. All camps are taught by public school teachers or by professionals who are experts in their field and have experience working with children.

For the aspiring young writer, “Experience Writing Camp” provides an opportunity for campers to approach the writing process through daily adventurous road trips and experiences. Campers will learn about different forms of writing, from creative writing to essay formats, and will gain a stronger sense of grammar along the way. Students will produce a portfolio as a memento of their daily adventures.

“LegoMindstorms Camp” is another popular choice. Campers use Lego kits to learn the basics of robot building and programming. Campers will work in teams to complete daily challenges to design, build and test their robots in a fun and competitive atmosphere.

“Engineering Camp” offers fun and exciting ways to learn basic engineering concepts. Campers will get hands-on experience and learn how to problem solve, brainstorm, and learn the engineering design process. These young engineers will then apply new knowledge to build simple projects using basic hand tools.

For animal enthusiasts with a serious interest in veterinary medicine, “Case Studies in Veterinary Medicine” is a great camp option. This advanced program will help campers gain veterinary knowledge through field trips to a local vet hospital and gain hands-on experience in MCC’s science labs.
