LP&CT 2016 Annual Meeting, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 6:30 pm At Memorial Hall in the Pollard Memorial Library

Lowell, MA –LP&CT’s historic Spalding House is home to countless patriotic artifacts—including a very special document that links Lowell with the founding of our country, the Bunker Hill Roll of Honor.

At their November 16th Annual Meeting, the Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust will unveil the Bunker Hill Roll of Honor.  This document, discovered amongst the Spalding House collection, honors “the men who lived and loved and labored within our original boundaries and whose patriotism on that day made it possible for our fair city of Lowell to have existence,” as stated on the honor roll.  Thanks to many partners, including the municipalities of Lowell, Chelmsford, Dracut and Tewksbury, the document was restored at the Northeast Document Conservation Center.

At the event, a park ranger from the Bunker Hill National Monument will be speaking to the role of the militia from the Lowell area.  Special guests also include Revolutionary War re-enactors from the Second Massachusetts Regiment.  Each town will receive its own copy of this special document.  All are welcome to attend.

The Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust (LP&CT) is a private, non-profit land trust located in Lowell, Massachusetts that was founded in 1990.  LP&CT provides conservation leadership and programs which focus on four major areas: land protection, stewardship, environmental education, and special places.  LP&CT has a dedicated board of directors, a small staff, and over 300 volunteers who assist us in meeting our mission and stewarding our properties.  Annually, we offer over 40 programs to people of all ages, including after-school programming for urban youth, natural history programs, historic preservation initiatives, park stewardship, and tree-planting projects.  Check out our calendar of events for upcoming programs!
