Merrimack Repertory Theatre Executive Director receives recognition from MVB

Lowell, MA – Congratulations to Merrimack Repertory Theatre Executive Director Tom Parrish, who was recently recognized in Merrimack Valley Business Magazine’s premiere “40 Under 40” list.  MVB, a new business magazine covering the Merrimack Valley, launched earlier this month with the “40 Under 40” edition, which celebrates the most successful up-and-coming professionals in the region.

Parrish joined MRT as Executive Director in 2006.  He has been responsible for providing institutional leadership for the organization, eliminating the company’s accumulated deficit, stimulating audience growth and donor development, and operating the company in the black every season.  Prior to joining MRT, Parrish served as Associate Managing Director and General Manager of San Diego Repertory Theatre, and in September 2006, he was named to the prestigious list of San Diego’s “40 Under 40.”  A native of Detroit, Parrish has worked in various capacities at Arena Stage, Dallas Theater Center, The Cleveland Play House, Meadow Brook Theatre, Dobama Theater and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.  For his education, he received a MBA and MA in Arts Administration from Southern Methodist University; a BA in Theatre Arts and Economics from Case Western Reserve University and studied at the National Theater Institute.  Locally, he is involved with the Young Professionals of Greater Lowell, the Downtown Lowell Business Committee, serves on the Boards of the Cultural Organization of Lowell and Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce, and has served as a panelist for the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.

“We are very excited to identify the up-and-coming movers and shakers in the Valley in our ‘40 Under 40,’” stated publisher of the Eagle Tribune, Al Getler.  “We are doing ‘40 Under 40’ because there are so many young, bright people in business and non-profits who are in a leadership position, or soon will be in a leadership position.”  MVB received hundreds of nominations from all over the Merrimack Valley of Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.

Merrimack Repertory Theatre’s 2010-2011 season is sponsored by Lowell Cooperative Bank.  Merrimack Repertory Theatre is funded in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
