This fall, Middlesex Community College is offering an associate degree program in History, Politics and Global Studies, which prepares students for transfer into bachelor’s degree programs in a number of social science disciplines. Enrollment is now open and financial aid is available for those who qualify. Classes begin Wednesday, Sept. 9.

MCC’s History, Politics and Global Studies degree program is interdisciplinary in nature and examines social, economic, environmental and political issues from both current and historical perspectives. The program challenges students to critically evaluate the commonalities and differences within various cultural and social frameworks. It also looks at relationships between national and international systems that influence the world community.

Students will take at least one course in each major social science field and have the flexibility to take additional electives in one or more areas of interest. Upon completing the program, most students will continue their studies toward a bachelor’s degree in history, political science, American studies, economics, sociology, public policy, education, global studies, or international business.

Graduates from the History, Politics and Global Studies program are prepared to enter careers in business, federal, state and local government, education, law or public service, as well as with organizations and international institutions involved with for-profit and nonprofit activities.

This program qualifies for MassTransfer, which guarantees credit transfer to Massachusetts state colleges and UMass campuses.
