Lowell, MA. The annual Botball competition is coming to Lowell, Massachusetts! This year's Spring tournament will be held on March 28, 2009 at University of Massachusetts, Lowell in Cumnock Hall. High school and middle school teams from throughout New England will participate in the tournament.
Botball is a robotics competition for students that involves using student-built and programmed robots to complete a series of tasks within a set period of time. Sensors and cameras give input to the robots, which is then used to locate and identify objects that will score points. Local teams spend many months building and perfecting their robots, with the goal of competing in the regional tournament.
The New England Regional Botball Program was established in 2001, and a Botball workshop and regional tournament are held at University of Massachusetts, Lowel every Spring. Last season, Greater Lowell Technical High School won first place for Documentation, and they also won the Judges Choice, Disco Award for Best Dancing.
