Lowell, MA. - A project undertaken by Lowell neighborhood association, Coalition for a Better Acre needs your support! The St. Joseph's High School project has been selected as one of 25 projects in Greater Boston to compete for preservation funds through the National Trust for Historic Preservation/American Express Partners in Preservation Greater Boston Initiative.
The project's plans call for a renovation of the former school building into 22 affordable housing units. Project funding would specifically address critical preservation needs related to the structure's roof.
Voting online begins today and runs through May 17, 2009. Everyone is allowed to cast one vote each day, so please remember to vote every day! CBA really needs our support on this, and a few minutes of time can make a big difference!
Launched in 2006, Partners in Preservation is a program in which American Express, in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, committed $5.5 million over a five-year period toward preserving historic places throughout the United States.
The following five criteria were used for the participant selection process: Historic Significance, Project Plan, Community Impact, Organizational Excellence, and Completion Date. Visit the American Express Boston Initiative website for more details.
