Prototypes of robots that may be available to the public someday will be showcased during an open house at the New England Robotics Validation and Experimentation (NERVE) Center at UMass Lowell. The center – one of the country’s most advanced testing facilities – evaluates robots’ durability and performance through a variety of obstacle courses and other challenges. Free to the public, the event will include demonstrations and exhibits of robots being developed at businesses, universities and organizations throughout the region, helping to fuel the estimated $1.9 billion robotics industry in Massachusetts as well as assisting researchers in other states.

Members of the public who have built robots they would like to demonstrate during the event should contact Adam Norton at nerve@cs.uml.edu. Members of the public who wish to attend are asked to register at http://nerveopenhouse2015.eventbrite.com/.
