Tien Chiu, a fiber artist specializing in hand-woven couture, spent a year designing and weaving her own wedding gown, on display in ATHM’s special exhibition, Behind the Veil: Brides and their Dresses.  Learn about the process of designing and creating original works through Tien’s inspiring story.

This presentation discusses the process of designing and creating original works – collecting ideas, transforming ideas into designs, refining your designs, and then constructing your piece. Crafters of all levels will gain useful tips and tools for each step of the creative process. Visit Tien’s blog at  http://www.creatingcraft.com for more information about her work.

Behind the Veil: Brides and their Dresses takes an intimate look at generations of wedding dresses and the women who wore them. This exhibition explores how brides over the last 130 years have chosen their wedding dresses, and how their decisions are shaped by fashion, family, and finances.

Behind the Veil is on view through August 11, 2013.
