Catch the excitement as the puck drops on UMass Lowell’s men’s ice hockey for the 2012-2013 season. The River Hawks – now in the team’s second year with UMass Lowell alumnus and coach Norm Bazin behind the bench – are ranked sixth in the country in Division I NCAA play by USCHO.com and are the second-highest ranked Hockey East program. Last year during an inspired season, Bazin led the team to a 24-13-1 finish and its first NCAA Tournament since 1996. The feat was the second-largest turnaround in NCAA history, earning Bazin Hockey East Coach of the Year honors. The River Hawks return 18 players for the new season, including top scorers Riley Wetmore, Scott Wilson and Derek Arnold, along with goaltender Doug Carr. The home opener will be a Hockey East tilt against the University of Vermont Catamounts.
Tickets are free to UMass Lowell students with a valid university ID. For tickets, call the Tsongas Center box office at 866-722-8780 or visit www.tsongascenter.com.
