Get a sneak preview of LeLacheur Park before the Spinners season kicks off! Thursday, May 19 the Spinners will host a special fundraising event at LeLacheur Park, with the second Lowell Spinners Wine Tasting! The event kicks off at 6 p.m. and wraps up at 10 p.m.

All proceeds will directly benefit the Merrimack Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau, who have seen their funding and staff slashed continuously over the past two years, while continuing their tireless efforts to bring visitors to the Merrimack Valley and its businesses.

Tickets for the event are just $50 and can be ordered directly from the Greater Merrimack Valley CVB.

The event will be held on the LeLacheur Park concourse, with special tours of the entire ballpark and clubhouse available, a guest appearance by Lowell’s own Mickey O’Keefe(The Fighter), the Red Sox and Tigers game on the video board, massages, a silent auction and then some. Not enough? How about taking some hacks on the LeLacheur Park diamond in a special batting practice opportunity? You’ve got it!

The evening will feature some of the world’s finest wines, donated and hand selected by the staff of Tutto Bene, as well as a sampling of local beers courtesy of Merrimack Valley Distributors. You will also have the opportunity to pair your beverages with appetizers compliments of Boston Chowda, Cobblestones of Lowell and Moonstones of Chelmsford.

Mediterranean spreads and dips by Sabra Hummus and Falafel by the “Falafel Republic” will also be available.

Back to the big highlight however – BATTING PRACTICE! Do you think you have what it takes to swing for the fences or perhaps just tweak that cranky back after a few drinks. Take some cuts on the LeLacheur Park diamond for a $5 donation to the CVB. The longest fly/drive/dribbler past the mound will receive a ceremonial pitch at a 2011 Spinners Home Game to prove you have more than just offense!

In addition Body Destinations of Tyngsboro will be available, providing chair massages for those in need of a little relaxation.
