Lowell UK named within Best Places to Work
Lowell, the UK’s leading credit management company, has been recognised in The Sunday Times’ Best Places to Work list for the third year in a row. The annual list recognises companies across the UK with high levels of employee engagement, wellbeing and satisfaction. Lowell’s inclusion is based on feedback from colleagues who took part in an internal survey last month.
In their responses, colleagues highlighted strong confidence in management and colleague wellbeing, with Lowell outperforming benchmarks in the wider financial services sector.
John Pears, CEO of Lowell, said: “Behind every customer conversation are people who bring empathy, skill and care to work that can make a real difference to people’s lives. Being recognised as one of the UK’s best employers for the third year running is especially meaningful, because it reflects the culture we are building for the people who deliver that work every day.
“What matters most is that we continue to build a culture where colleagues feel heard, supported and able to grow. That culture is built through listening carefully, communicating openly and creating spaces where colleagues can share what is working as well as where we need to improve. Our colleague listening groups, regular leadership updates and all-colleague town halls all play a role in helping us maintain that dialogue across the business.
“We’re proud of this achievement but we also know that culture is something we have to keep working at. We will continue to listen, learn and invest in our people, so colleagues at every level of the business feel supported in their personal and professional growth.”
An environment built for connection
Lowell supports colleagues through a range of initiatives focused on wellbeing, inclusion and career development.
Wellbeing programmes span mental, physical and financial health, including access to an onsite therapist and mental health training for managers.
Lowell maintains five active networks as part of an employee-led inclusion strategy: RISE (supporting women), Culture (ethic and cultural diversity), and Proud@Lowell (LGBTQ+ colleagues), SPARK (disability and neurodiversity), and M.E.N Network (supporting men’s wellbeing and connection). These networks play a vital role in driving inclusion, supporting recruitment, delivering education and events, shaping policy, and providing safe spaces for peer support.
Colleagues are also supported to grow at every stage of their career, with programmes such as “Let’s Go” and “Let’s Grow”, “Women in Leadership”, in-house coaching and peer learning through “Lowell Talks”. Lowell also hosts an annual Life@Lowell Week, which is a multi-day fayre with themed stalls focused on learning opportunities, drop-ins for different parts of the business, wellbeing activities and DEI showcases.
Environment is also a key element to ensuring that colleagues can focus but also inspires a work-life balance. Lowell’s Leeds office, opened in 2023, reflects a focus on community and collaboration, offering a modern workspace with an onsite gym, multi-faith rooms, a coffee bar, and a dedicated wellbeing floor.
Together, these initiatives, supported by open communication and visible leadership, create an environment where colleagues feel valued and can thrive.
